Services

Some of the services provided include:

  • Parenting education program
  • Tutoring and computer program
  • Senior Activities
  • Tigrigna Language class and cultural program
  • Monthly social gathering and dinner.

The tutoring and computer program is provided twice a week.

Monday 5:00-7:00p.m.
Wednesday 5:00-7:00p.m.

The purpose of this program is to help children k-12 to be interested in education and excel in their studies. Since most of the parents are academically illiterate, they can not help their children with their school work. The association feels it is up to the community to provide this valuable service. Most of the children who participate in this program are becoming focused in class and are showing a great deal of improvement in their grades. A recent added service for students is a computer lab with a high-speed internet connectivity. This service is a work in progress. We have currently seven computers and two printers. It is the intent of the association to expand this service so that no child is left behind in the new technology.

Parent Education

The Association provides this class to enhance parenting knowledge, skills and confidence. These will enable the parents to participate effectively in the school system that affects them and their children thus support and contribute in their children's development.
Parenting classes are conducted every Saturday from 3:00-6:00p.m.

Tigrigna Language and Cultural Program

The Tigrigna Language and cultural program are provided twice a week.

Saturday10:30-2:30p.m.

The importance of this program is both for parents and children. The program helps the children to understand and know who they are and where they come from. Second, it helps the children to understand and communicate with their parents, since most of their parents do not speak and understand the English language well. The primary focus of the language class is for the children to learn to read, write and pronounce the Tigrigna language. The purpose of the cultural class is to help the children learn their parents’ cultural heritage. Here they learn how to perform Eritrea's cultural music and dance.
